Online education breaks down barriers to physical or geographic limits. If you’re in a rural community, for example, you get access to the same world of online options as you would in a city. “10-20 years ago, if you wanted to finish school or get an advanced degree, chances are your options were one of the handful of local schools,” says Dale Leatherwood, Co-Founder of ClearDegree, which helps working professionals research online education. “If they didn’t offer the program that you wanted, you were out of luck. Now you have dozens or sometimes hundreds of options to choose from when looking to get your degree.”
Yes and no. The experience can be as fulfilling as sitting in an office, but it will be a different experience. To make the process positive, you might wish to approach it the same way as if you were about to visit the therapist in an office. Make sure you have a private space and that you will be not be interrupted while in the video session. Turn off your phone, television, and music. Make sure pets and children are safe in another room. Consider other things that might distract you during an office visit, and clear these from the space you’ll be using for your appointment. The therapist you will be working with should be doing the same.

Without a license or certificate, most states will not allow you to practice or accept health insurance from clients. To meet state requirements for practice, counseling licensure/certification is necessary. A valid state counseling license/certification serves as proof that a counseling professional has met state-determined qualification standards, including a minimum level of education and requisite hours of supervised clinical experience.

"I was in a panic when I joined online counseling because I needed someone to talk to me and tell me they are there. Few minutes later, Mary came through. I typed out my worries and problems and we got right to it. Mary offered a lot of insight and hit the nail on the head as what was going on. Mary has helped me see things that my anxiety wasn't letting me. I'm thankful for Mary and the time she takes to answer my questions and encourages me to keep moving forward. I don't regret joining better help."

Located in Stanford, California, Stanford University was founded in 1885 as The Leland Stanford Junior University by the parents, California Senator Leland Stanford and his wife, Jane, who named the school after their son who sadly had died at the age of 15 from typhoid fever. The school is referred to often as simply Stanford and colloquially as “The Farm” because of its heritage since part of the land donated was the family’s Palo Alto Stock Farm. When the school opened in 1891, it had an enrollment of 555 students.

The Village Family Service Center and its counselors make every possible effort to protect your confidentiality. There are, however, limits to confidentiality—Village counselors, as required by law, are mandatory reporters of child abuse and neglect and are also required to report abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults. In such cases a report is filed with county social services. In situations where a client states suicidal or homicidal intention, our counselors by law have a duty to warn and are to make sure the client and/or threatened person/s are safe. This may require the counselor to call an emergency contact or emergency services, and in cases of threat of harm to others, warn the person who has been threatened. Further information is included in the Clients Rights and Notice of Privacy Practice forms you will review and sign prior to scheduling an appointment.

Compared with print media, the mass media, and other analog technologies, digital media are easy to copy, store, share and modify. This quality of digital media has led to significant changes in many industries, especially journalism, publishing, education, entertainment, and the music business. The overall effect of these changes is so far-reaching that it is difficult to quantify. For example, in movie-making, the transition from analog film cameras to digital cameras is nearly complete. The transition has economic benefits to Hollywood, making distribution easier and making it possible to add high-quality digital effects to films.[22] At the same time, it has affected the analog special effects, stunt, and animation industries in Hollywood.[23] It has imposed painful costs on small movie theaters, some of which did not or will not survive the transition to digital.[24] The effect of digital media on other media industries is similarly sweeping and complex.[23]
