While some form of tele-psychology has been available for over 35 years,[2] the advent of internet video chat systems and the increasing penetration of broadband has resulted in a growing movement towards online therapy. Many of the methods used to facilitate online therapy sessions include a multimedia access platform such as TalkSpace, BetterHelp, and 7 Cups Online Therapy. Both of which enable users to receive initial treatment and therapy in a safe and discreet manner. Clients are using videoconferencing, live chat and email with professional psychologists in place of or in addition to face-to-face meetings.[2]
In addition to what was mentioned above, earning an online associate degree can also be the first step towards a bachelor's degree. Before you enroll in an online community college, make sure to confirm that the credits you earn are transferable and will count toward other programs you plan to pursue, such as a bachelor's degree at a four-year university. This can reduce the amount of time needed to earn a bachelor's degree in the future.

If one thinks of those leaders who made a distinctive impact, who changed their organizations, communities and the world for the better, who were ethical and value-centered, who made informed data-driven decisions, who saw things no one else could see, who solved problems few might risk addressing who not only managed but transformed, then one might ask, can this be taught? Is there a place to acquire these skills? Is there a place where leadership is cultivated, and where the sheer effectiveness of a collaborative approach is honed, refined, and understood deeply so as to be applied to the most challenging situations one might face? The master's in Transformative Leadership Program is a rigorous four-semester on-line program that unreservedly shows that the answer is yes.
Attending an online program has had distinct advantages. The most valuable benefit being that I am able to stay home more with my family. I have been able to listen to lectures and presentations at hours that do not conflict with family time. I have not missed important events or activities with my children due to being away for class. I have still been able to make memories with my family while going on vacation too. I have attended class in the car, in the airport, at the beach and even on a cruise ship! I have found an improved sense of self-reliance and direction attending courses online. I was anxious about being successful at first. It takes a great deal of self discipline to meet goals. I have gained both knowledge and confidence!

What’s more, you might be surprised to learn that these ethical guidelines aren’t new—they too have been around for more than a decade.

Many two-year schools offer degrees specifically for these industries that prepare graduates to pursue entry-level jobs. These schools, often known as trade schools, technical schools, or career colleges, tend to center around industries like healthcare, IT, and specific trades such as computer drafting. As online education becomes more common, more online trade schools and online career colleges have emerged. Our rankings can help you find the best online technical education options.

Online counseling has a long history. Cornell University, as early as 1986, began providing an online therapy service of sorts when they developed a program called “Dear Uncle Ezra.” With Ezra, students could anonymously write to an anonymous therapist, and receive a prompt written reply. While 1986 sounds early, if one extends the definition of “online” therapy to include any electronic or distance therapy, the Samaritans, based out of Great Britain, created their first telephone crisis helpline almost 30 years earlier—in 1953! So, while today we might think of online therapy as HIPAA-complaint videoconference (like we offer), it reality is a broad category with a rich history, and if you ask five helping professionals for a definition, you might get five somewhat different answers.
For the Overall Grade supplied by Niche, we use these grades which are then converted to a numerical scale so that they can be added together with the other values for an overall ranking score. The scale used is illustrated on the right. We find this statistic valuable as it allows students who have attended the institution a chance to voice their opinion.

I currently do not have an experience of online college, but since I came from a very small high school I did enroll in online businesses classes. One positive experience I had was the fact that I was able to learn new material that in-class, I wouldn't have been able to. I built a connection with other students from the East Coast and learned much more about what I wouldn't have if I didn't take an online class. Another positive experience was strongly improving on my time management. Many consider graduating high school becoming a part of the "real world", and during my online classes, I had to fit them in to my normal school schedule. This helped me prepare for college as well as obtaining my future online degree.

Western Governors University was founded in 1997 by 19 governors seeking to reinvent higher education. The result is an exclusively virtual college for busy working adults hoping to earn a bachelor's or a master's degree entirely online. The school is one of the only online colleges offering programs in all 50 states and boasts approximately 80,000 enrolled students. Programs require that students meet certain competency standards for graduation, hence the school's use of "competency units" instead of "credits."
You should also ask admissions counselors if their school has any transfer agreements with colleges or universities that offer bachelor's degrees. It's common for a community college, even an online community college, to have relationships with other schools that give students priority acceptance to bachelor's degree programs after they earn an associate degree.
Distance learning is here to stay. Initially on the fringes of formal education, online colleges, courses and degree programs have quickly become mainstream. Even traditional campus-based institutions have incorporated online learning into their curricula. In 2013, seven million college students — nearly 50 percent of all those enrolled — took at least one online class, with an estimated 20 percent earning an entire degree program remotely. The Sloan Consortium reports that 74 percent of today’s academic leaders rate the educational outcomes of online learning as equal to or superior to those of face-to-face systems. More recruiters than ever before are embracing online credentials. Read More
