Non-profit colleges and universities (both two- and four-year) have quickly adopted online education as a way to improve academic access and program diversity for students. Furthermore, the growing acceptance of online learning at non-profit colleges is important because—in most cases—non-profit colleges represent the best educational choice for adults who have jobs or family commitments that preclude traditional campus attendance.

The Village Family Service Center and its counselors make every possible effort to protect your confidentiality. There are, however, limits to confidentiality—Village counselors, as required by law, are mandatory reporters of child abuse and neglect and are also required to report abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults. In such cases a report is filed with county social services. In situations where a client states suicidal or homicidal intention, our counselors by law have a duty to warn and are to make sure the client and/or threatened person/s are safe. This may require the counselor to call an emergency contact or emergency services, and in cases of threat of harm to others, warn the person who has been threatened. Further information is included in the Clients Rights and Notice of Privacy Practice forms you will review and sign prior to scheduling an appointment.
There are numerous reasons and a multitude of benefits that come along with an online degree compared to a traditional degree but the ones that stand out most would be the professors and the time and scheduling. At first I was wary of online professors and how they would stack up compared to in-person professors. To my surprise, at the University of Florida, some of the same professors that were in-person also taught online. This means that you know you are getting top quality teaching at a pace you enjoy as well as the amount of hours you want to put into a class rather than spending upwards of 3-4 hours in a small classroom. You are able to time out and schedule around your life as you please which has been the biggest blessing of my life.
